Listening to the Prairie: Farming in Nature's Image
Listening to the Prairie closely examines the central region of North America and its transformation from grassland plains to cropland and grazing pastures, making it one of the world's most productive agricultural regions. Sponsored by the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) of the Smithsonian Institution and the ALA Public Programs Office, Listening to the Prairie was supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. It began public and academic libraries in May 2001 and will complete its tour in August 2004.
