The Great Experiment: George Washington and the American Republic
The Great Experiment exhibition provided an opportunity for adults and children to revisit the American Revolution and its indispensable leader, George Washington. The exhibition looked at the real George Washington - behind the myths that were created to strengthen his position as President and to secure the stability of a struggling republic. The Great Experiment toured public and academic libraries across the country from September 2000 to October 2003. It was produced by the ALA Public Programs Office in collaboration with The Huntington Library of San Marino, Calif. and with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
