American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference

Public Library Association (PLA) Spring Symposium & National Conference
PLA hosts annual national programs for public librarians. The National Conference, held every other year, offers more than 100 programs on various topics important to public librarians. Plan to attend the next PLA National Conference -- March 25-29, 2008 in Minneapolis.

In non-conference years, PLA also hosts a Spring Symposium. Smaller than a national conference, the Spring Symposium is open to public librarians across the country and features workshops on many different topics. The next PLA Spring Symposium will be held March 1-3, 2007 in San Jose, California.

ALA Chapter, Division and Affiliate Conferences Calendar
A listing of upcoming ALA, State and Regional Chapters, Division and Affiliate conferences through 2015. Most conferences are held annually and include programs, exhibitions, and special events for librarians from all types of libraries. For details concerning State or regional conferences, contact your state or regional library association for details

Poetry in the Branches
Poets House, together with the New York and Brooklyn Public Library systems, has developed Poetry in The Branches, a multi-faceted, replicable program model that helps librarians create a complete environment for poetry in their library. Several resources for public libraries, including a sourcebook, on-site consulting, and a national institute, are available through Poetry in the Branches.
