The ALA Public Programs Office has long been at the forefront of library discussion programs. In 1982, ALA launched the first national book discussion series, "Let's Talk About It." Since then, the range of discussion programs developed and presented by the ALA Public Programs Office has included film and audio discussion series, family reading, discussion and storytelling series, theme-based book discussion series, a radio program/reading discussion program, and more.
In this section, you will find a variety of resources for dozens of discussion programs developed by the ALA Public Programs Office and partnering organizations. These resources include discussion guides for hundreds of literary works, discussion leader's guides, and support materials.
This section also includes links to a selection of discussion programs developed by libraries, state humanities councils, historical societies and other groups. Materials for these programs are available via the Web or by request.
